Watch the video: Samsung tests its Galaxy Z Fold 3, Z Flip 3 smartphones

Samsung recently launched its next-generation foldable smartphones, which include the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and the Galaxy Z Flip 3 5G. These smartphones feature a foldable design and contain some of the latest high-end specs that users can choose from. Now Samsung has posted a video on YouTube that shows how the company is testing these devices and highlighting the durability of these foldable phones.

Samsung says it has “spent years conducting thousands of tests, drawing on diverse perspectives and developing a new approach” for the same. The company claims that when testing the devices, it goes through innovative tests including an environmental chamber, water resistance, S Pen usability, and a bend test.

As for environmental chamber testing, it is said to ensure that features like video playback and cameras perform to standards under various conditions including dry, wet, hot and cold. The waterproof test shows a Galaxy Z Flip 3 fully submerged in water, including when in Flex mode.

The Galaxy Z Flip 3 has an IPX8 water resistance rating, and Samsung officially claims that the device can survive 1.5 meters of water for up to 30 minutes. It should be noted that the phone is not dust resistant.

There is also an S Pen drawing test to ensure the performance of the stylus on the foldable display, including where it folds. The S Pen is actually run on the device multiple times to test its reliability. The Galaxy Z Fold 3 is the first to support an S Pen in the foldable wallet.

Samsung also performs a fold test on the Fold and Flip phones. The phones are folded and unfolded several times by machines as part of the endurance test. They undergo folding tests to last over 200,0001 folds, or about five years of use if folded and unfolded 100 times a day. The improved bend tests are supposed to mimic actual use in real life situations such as two-handed bending and unfolding.

This is probably how Samsung shows devices are durable and the foldable screen can outlast anything a user might throw at it.
