Samsung’s new 32-inch Odyssey Neo G8 curved monitor features 4K @ 240Hz, 2,000 nits of peak brightness

Something to look forward to: Samsung claims the Odyssey Neo G8 is the world’s first monitor to deliver 4K resolution at a stunning 240Hz refresh rate. The Neo G8 uses Samsung’s Quantum Mini-LED technology for its 32-inch panel and features 1000R immersive curvature. This monitor is one of three new models from Samsung that will be presented at CES 2022.

The Odyssey Neo G8 shares the same design language and similar technology as the excellent super ultra-wide Odyssey Neo G9, albeit packaged in healthier proportions. Like the larger model, the Neo G8 has a 1000R curvature and delivers up to 2000 nits of peak brightness, but features a 4K @ 240Hz panel instead of the dual QHD @ 240Hz configuration in the N9 Neo.

Samsung Remarks a response time of 1ms (GtG) for the smaller N8 Neo, and in terms of ports, the monitor would have a dual HDMI 2.1 connection and a single DisplayPort 1.4 connection. As expected, the Neo N8 supports Nvidia G-Sync and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro technologies for smooth gameplay, although a modern AAA game / GPU combo is virtually incapable of running at 4K @ 240Hz without a noticeable adjustment of the speed. quality.

Additionally, Samsung also announced two more monitors, namely the connectivity-focused M8 and the creator-focused S8. The first is a 32-inch 11.4mm ultra-thin UHD monitor with a SlimFit magnetic webcam for conferencing, cloud game streaming and can act as a hub for Samsung’s SmartThings IoT platform. It also comes with a dedicated remote control and a 65W USB-C port for direct charging.

The S8, on the other hand, is a 4K monitor, available in 27- and 32-inch sizes with DCI-P3 coverage of 98% and Display HDR 600 certification on the larger model. It uses a glare-free matte screen and is offered to content creators looking for a streamlined workstation. To this end, Samsung has added built-in LAN support and 90W USB-C charging for laptops and phones.

All three monitors will be officially announced during the Samsung CES 2022 showcase this week, where their remaining specs, pricing and availability information will likely be revealed.
