The Samsung Galaxy M52 will be launched as the last mid-range phone of the brand. The Galaxy M52 will be the successor to the popular Samsung Galaxy M51 device from 2020.
The Samsung Galaxy M series has been Samsung’s most successful device over the past two years, both in the budget segment with the M11, M21 series or in the midrange with Galaxy M31 and M51 series.
The next Samsung Galaxy M52 will also be a 5G compatible device. The launch of the device is confirmed in September and it will be sold on Amazon, just like the Galaxy M51. Within days of the actual launch, specs for the Galaxy M52 have been leaked, revealing some big improvements.
The Samsung Galaxy M51, even after a year of launch, remains the device to beat in terms of battery life. With the Galaxy M52, we hope the legacy continues with other improvements that the Galaxy M51 lacked, like a high refresh rate screen and better design.
Cut to the chase
- What is that? A new mid-range from Samsung
- Release date? September 2021
- What price? Around Rs 30,000 (expected)
Samsung Galaxy M52 release date and price
The launch date for the Samsung Galaxy M52 has yet to be announced. But, Amazon’s subscription mail suggests the device will launch in India in September. Looking at the leaked specs and features of the device, the Galaxy M52 should be priced at around Rs 30,000. The device will be sold on Amazon in India.
Samsung Galaxy M52 Specifications
The Samsung Galaxy M51 was one of the first M series phones to feature a Snapdragon processor. The Galaxy M51 was powered by a Snapdragon 730G chipset which improved the performance of the device. Likewise, according to the leaks, the upcoming Samsung Galaxy M52 will be powered by Snapdragon 778G Chipset which is a 5G compatible chipset and therefore, the device will probably be called 一 Samsung Galaxy M52 5G.
The Snapdragon 778G is an eight-core chipset with one Kryo 670 main core clocked at 2.4 GHz, three Cortex A78 cores at 2.2 GHz and four Cortex A55 cores clocked at 1.9 GHz. There is an Adreno 642L GPU to handle graphics and games. The chipset also supports multiple 5G bands. In terms of RAM and storage, the device is expected to feature up to 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage.
In the visual department, the Galaxy M52 is said to have a 6.7-inch Full HD + display and a 120Hz AMOLED display, a jump from the Galaxy M51’s 60Hz AMOLED panel. In terms of design, the recent leak suggests that the device will come with vertical stripes on the back – something similar to what we saw on the Galaxy F62.
Also, in terms of optics, it is confirmed that the device comes with three cameras on the back instead of the Galaxy M51’s four cameras. According to a to flee, the device will include a 64 MP main camera (ISOCELL GW3), a 12 MP ultra-wide lens and a 5 MP macro camera. There should also be a 32MP selfie camera, like the last-gen device. While the camera hardware isn’t new, an improved ISP on the new processor could provide a better photographic experience.
In terms of software, the Galaxy M52 will run on Android 11 based on Samsung’s OneUI skin. Surprisingly, the leaks have so far revealed nothing about the battery’s capacity. The Galaxy M51 has a huge battery with a capacity of 7,000mAh and we would expect the same to appear on the Galaxy M52 as well.
Samsung Galaxy M52: what we want to see
Based on our review of the Samsung Galaxy M51, here are the three things we’d like to see in the upcoming Galaxy M52 device.
Faster charging speeds
With the massive battery inside, the Galaxy M51 offers 25W fast charging that takes around two hours to charge. With the Galaxy M52, we would like to see a faster charging speed, as rival brands offer fast charging up to 65W in the mid-range segment.
Better build quality
The back panel of the Galaxy M51 is a mixture of glass and plastic. The back of the device is a fingerprint magnet and it can be easily scratched. We would like to see improved build quality at the rear this time around.
Weight less than 200 grams
Along with the massive capacity of the battery also comes the weight. The Galaxy M51 weighs around 213 grams and is 9.5mm thick. It becomes bulky and uncomfortable to hold for a long time. If the Galaxy M52 comes with a 7,000mAh battery, we’d like to see the weight drop.
