Chinese smartphone maker Realme is no longer limited to making and selling smartphones. The young and fast growing brand that is launching phones faster than lightning has already ventured into the smart home, IoT, home entertainment segments and is now looking to expand its portfolio further. .
A few days ago we heard that Realme might even be getting into consumer durables by introducing a washing machine and before we could get more info on it the company teased another product. This time around, it’s an Android TV stick that’s slated to launch at Flipkart’s next Big Billion Days sale.
The teaser is shared under Upcoming Products on Flipkart’s mobile app and shows a black colored streaming stick that can be connected to any TV via the HDMI port. The listing also reveals that the Realme TV stick will support 4K resolution.
It should be noted that some of Realme’s products made their global debut in India and the TV Stick will be added to the same list. In addition, the Flipkart teaser uses the “4K Google TV stick” work which is worth noting because Google TV is the latest interface Google launched for smart TVs and streaming devices. This is only available in a few regions including the US, UK, Canada, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Japan, and Spain. With India missing from the list, there is a possibility that the new interface will also be released in India. However, we will have to wait.
Analysis: Integration into the ecosystem could be a game-changer
Introducing too many products can confuse brands as well as consumers. However, Realme has not only launched a plethora of products since its introduction, but also the number of categories the company has added to its repertoire is impressive.
It is a product line that now includes products such as phones, smart LED TVs, sound bars, laptop, tablet, bluetooth speakers, wireless headphones, smart fitness trackers. sophisticated, power banks, alkaline batteries, baggage sealing and a range of personal care. Heck, he even has a sub-brand called Dizo now.
With the company already selling a few variations of its smart LED TVs, it made sense that Realme would introduce a streaming stick as well. This will help the company expand its user base to more people who are already part of its ecosystem with products like a smartphone that have a TV from another brand.
The success of the TV stick depends on its performance, its overall quality and the ability of Realme to integrate it into the ecosystem.
