WhatsApp is planning to add a few new features to the app and this time the additions don’t focus on voice/video calls or voice notes. Instead, the app should soon offer users more ways to draw on images before sending them.
The popular messaging platform is adding two new pencils to the built-in media editor, according to a report by WABetaInfo. This means that WhatsApp could soon offer three pencils. While a pencil was there to draw on images and screenshots before users submitted them, the only control offered so far was color customization. Now, users will also be able to choose between three sizes.
A leaked screenshot also shows us what the option will look like once released. Check it out below.

Blur function
WhatsApp is also set to bring a new blurring feature to the platform that will allow users to blur parts of a photo before sending it. It could be a much needed addition to the platform and could be very handy if you send a lot of screenshots with sensitive data.
Although cropping the sensitive part of an image is an option, it doesn’t always work. For example, you cannot crop a part of a chat that is in the middle of a conversation. In such cases, WhatsApp users would often have to resort to third-party media editors for selective blurring. However, it will soon be a native addition.
Both modifications are currently not yet available on WhatsApp. As always, the features are expected to arrive in the beta version of WhatsApp for iOS and Android first, before moving to the stable version.
