Netflix plans two consecutive Red Notice sequels

Last year, Netflix caused a stir by activating Red Notice Universal Pictures, and the film became one of the most popular films on the streaming platform. Much of this was due to the incredible star power of Dwayne Johnson, Gal Gadot, and Ryan Reynolds in the lead roles. Now, Deadline reports that Johnson, Gadot and Reynolds are all expected to return for Red notice 2 and Red notice 3. Additionally, Netflix has ambitious plans to shoot the two sequels back to back.

While the plan is to start filming next year, it’s not set in stone yet. Johnson, Gadot and Reynolds have extremely busy schedules, and it will be a challenge to get the three of them on line again. This is one of the reasons why the sequels would also expand the cast beyond the base trio. The deadline report compares Red Noticethe expanded list of characters from Eleven from the ocean films, which featured a star cast. Director and screenwriter Rawson Marshall Thurber is also set to return, and he has reportedly started writing the sequels as well.

Netflix is ​​known to keep its viewing numbers close to the vest, but the hiring of two more installments of Red Notice suggests that this was truly one of the best movies on the platform of 2021. Netflix also recently made a deal to film two sequels at Rian johnson‘s Knives Out.

The first one Red Notice introduced Johnson’s character, Special Agent John Hartley, an expert in criminal profiling who was on the hunt for two of the world’s biggest art thieves; Nolan Booth (Reynolds); and Sarah Black, alias L’Évêque (Gadot).
