IPhone 14 Pro design rumor gives us hope the notch stays there

2022 has just started and we already hear so much about the iPhone 14. This last piece of information is about the iPhone 14 Pro. Rumors have suggested that the new Pro models will drop the dreaded notch Apple has used for Face ID since the iPhone X. In its place, Apple will supposedly use a pill-shaped cutout for the front camera and the Face ID material that won does not work under the screen.

But a new rumor from display analyst Ross Young (via Twitter) claims that the iPhone 14 Pro will not only have a pill-shaped cutout, but also a circular perforation. You can see what the latter looks like on the best Android phones, and what the pill might look like going all the way back to the Galaxy S10 Plus.

That’s a lot of cutouts in the display. This begs the question, why isn’t Apple sticking with the smaller notch it introduced on the iPhone 13? Or work to reduce it even more?

Young claims the pill is for front and infrared cameras, while the puncture will house the Face ID dot projector. Supposedly, the pill will be in the center to the left while the hole punch will hang down to the right of the center. With this new design, one has to wonder if Apple has not managed to migrate Face ID under the screen.

All in all, two cuts are not the end of the world. The suit should be a bit more visual than the notch we have now (both the original and the thinnest). The cutouts are said to help the phone look more upscale and up to date when it comes to the all-screen design. It’s no secret that Android phones have taken a leap forward in this area, even though they don’t have Face IDs.

The iPhone 14 Pro is also slated to get a 48 MP main camera, potentially making it a powerful camera phone (as if the iPhone 13 Pro isn’t good enough already). But let’s not forget that rumors say you might not have gone Pro to get a big screen iPhone. Apple plans to release the 6.1-inch iPhone 14 and 6.7-inch iPhone 14 Max as well as the 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch Pro models.

We expect to know all about the iPhone 14 in September, so we still have a long way to go. But be prepared for all kinds of rumors and leaks in the meantime, and mark our iPhone 14 hub for all the latest information.
