It is only a few hours before Canon officially unveils what it calls “the most exciting announcement of the year,” showcasing a product – or products – that apparently display “breakthrough” innovation.
The teaser on the brand’s YouTube channel hints that it could be a premium product, but doesn’t give too much information on what it might actually be – although the styling of the teaser and recent development announcements certainly give us some good clues.
Taking place at 6 a.m. EDT / 11 a.m. BST / 8 p.m. AEST, you can watch the great product revealed live on the company’s YouTube channel, or you can register for the event directly from the home of Canon.
While Canon is keeping its cards close to its chest on the exact purpose of the launch event, the claim that this is the most exciting announcement of the year is certainly a bold statement and likely to make a difference. ‘be something worth putting together for live streaming.
Given that one of the speakers for the event is Vladimir Rys, a professional sports photographer who has worked in the industry for 25 years and specializes in F1 photography, we can expect this to be ‘a high-end or highly specialized product with references. it would suit a photographer like that.
The event is hosted by Lucy Hedges, a tech writer with a TV background, which suggests there might be a good video hook for the new product as well.

What can we expect from today’s Canon camera launch?
While the teaser and event page say very little, the snippets of information help us get a feel for what is likely to be revealed.
The teaser shows off the RF mount, so it will almost certainly be a full frame mirrorless camera, or maybe some newer RF lenses – if we’re lucky, maybe the two will come our way. . Companies might have a tendency to ramp up their launches, but calling it “the most exciting ad of the year” and then coming up with a new entry-level DSLR would seem unlikely.
Since the announcement of the development of the professional-level Canon EOS R3 dates back to April and the end of the year is just around the corner, it’s possible that we can finally see exactly what the heritage maker has. planned rounds for all those pros who have waited patiently all these months.
As you can see in the video below, the styling of the teaser also matches that of the original EOS R3 development announcement back in April.
We already know a few things about the R3 thanks to that previous announcement. For example, Canon has already announced that it will have its first stacked, back-illuminated full-frame sensor and handle 30 fps burst shooting with AF / AE tracking. It will also feature a new “Eye Control AF” mode, which allows you to control the AF point simply by looking at the subject you wish to photograph.
Also considering that we’ve also seen a development announcement for the Nikon Z9 this year and the Sony A1 is already on the market, it would make sense for Canon’s high-end lineup to show its hand as well at this time. But if this event is about the Canon EOS R3, or maybe something lens related, we’ll have to wait a few hours to find out.
So stay tuned to find out exactly what it is – and we’ll bring you all the news, commentary, and analysis as we go, too.
