Oculus (or Meta) states that the best method for cleaning lenses is to use a dry microfiber optical lens cloth. Start at the center of the lens and wipe gently in an outward circular motion. Then use a new section of the cloth for the second lens. That’s all we can say about it.
How to clean up the rest
While you’re at it, why not review the entire helmet? Again, this is relatively easy to do and will help maintain your Oculus.
You should use a dry microfiber cloth to wipe the exterior of your helmet. Make sure you have a good grip while doing this and don’t apply any pressure, especially around the sensors if you have a Quest 2. If you need microfiber cleaning cloths, the cleaning cloths in MR.SIGA microfiber are a good option ($ 11.99, Amazon).
To clean the straps and foam, you can use non-abrasive antibacterial wipes to disinfect. Just be sure not to use alcohol or abrasive cleaning chemicals as this can lead to damage again.
If the top strap is noticeably discolored on your Oculus Quest 2, whether from grease or hair dye, you can deep clean it. First, remove the head strap completely by releasing the velcro from the top strap, then sliding it off one of the detached sides. Then wash your headband in cold soapy water and rinse, before allowing it to air dry for 24 hours. Do not put it in the dryer. Then once dry, reattach.
For controllers, the technique is very similar to straps and foam – you can use a dry microfiber cloth or non-abrasive antibacterial wipes. Again, no alcohol or harsh chemical cleaners. Make sure to clean all of the controllers, including around the back where you type and between the buttons.
