It seems like GameStop is gearing up for its next PS5 restock. In-store restocking will take place at select locations on Friday, January 21.
Rumors of this drop have been circulating the internet for some time now, and although some sources initially reported that it was scheduled for Wednesday, January 19, it now seems very likely that it will take place on Friday. Replenishment Tracking Matt Swider of The shortcut has more details on the bundle that will be offered, which includes Call of Duty Vanguard and more.
Assuming it follows the trend of previous GameStop PS5 restocks, the console should be available shortly after 11 a.m. ET. We expect this drop to be exclusively for PowerUp Reward Pro members, and the console will only be available in bundles.
PS5 restocking at GameStop (check stock)
GameStop has been locking its drops behind its premium membership program since last summer, and there’s no indication that this practice will end anytime soon. Pro membership costs $15 per year, which might be a small price to pay if it helps you secure a PS5.
It’s also worth noting that GameStop is still putting its allocation of the PS5 into bundles. These packages include things like an extra controller, physical games, and often some form of digital credit or PlayStation Plus subscription. GameStop still charges the combined retail price of items in its bundles, so at least you won’t be cheated.
If you don’t want to sign up for PowerUp Reward Pro to score a PS5, or just want the console alone without any extras, be sure to bookmark our PS5 replenishment hub. This comprehensive guide is updated daily with the latest stock information from all major retailers.
How to Become a PowerUp Rewards Pro Member
In early June, GameStop announced that it was changing the way it handles console restocks. It will give the first dibs to its PowerUp Rewards Pro members. Although there is a free tier, only Pro members will have early access to restocks. Membership starts at $14.99 per year and includes perks like Game Informer subscription, $5 reward coupons per month (total $60/year), 10% extra trade credit on games/ accessories and a $5 welcome certificate. If you register today, you will have access to future restocks.
GameStop Restock – Tips & Tricks
It might be obvious, but you’ll want to have a GameStop account and be logged into your account when the restocking begins. If you click the “add to cart” button and nothing happens, try refreshing the page.
You can also clear your browser cookies and try to open the page through an incognito web browser. You may be asked to solve a captcha before adding the console to your cart. We don’t yet know if this restock will be open to the general public after the early access window.
What to do if you miss
As with previous GameStop PS5 restock events, these units will sell out quickly. So if you missed, don’t worry. There will be more restocking events in the future. Also, be sure to follow our restock coverage for up-to-the-minute information on the latest restocks. In the meantime, you can browse other retailers’ pages to see if they’ve quietly added new inventory.
