Problem: Back of phone gets hot to the touch, especially during gaming
Samsung forum users have noticed that the Z Flip 3 overheats while using Android Auto. It also appears not to be an isolated incident. Other users on the XDA Developer Forum have reported that the phone gets very hot to the touch in the area under the cameras when playing graphically intensive games like Call of Duty: Mobile. And perhaps worryingly, some users have also reported that the phone gets unusually hot when performing basic tasks like making a call or browsing the web. This could be due to the Snapdragon 888 processor, which gets a lot hotter than previous processors, or it could be caused by an app consuming a lot of battery.
A recommended solution is to remove your phone from its case when watching videos or during intense gaming sessions, especially in hot weather, as this can help keep it cool. You can also download a temperature monitoring app like CPU Monitor to check if the phone is actually overheating as it can get a little hot to the touch. If it appears to be seriously overheating, the next steps are to contact Samsung for a repair or a replacement phone.
Issue: Cannot change brightness while listening to music in Flex mode
A Samsung forum user in Korea reported issues with changing the brightness in Flex mode while listening to music. Apparently, when you try to adjust the brightness in Flex mode, a second column appears for the volume and the brightness doesn’t change, but the volume increases instead. This video shows the problem a bit more clearly.
Samsung is aware of the problem and has promised a software update in September to fix the problem. In the meantime, if this happens, close the brightness or volume control window and open it again to readjust your settings.
Problem: Huge battery drain in standby
There have been reports on the XDA Forum of the battery draining while the Z Flip 3 is in sleep mode, with one user reporting a 32% discharge over eight hours while asleep and others reporting a huge battery drain on first day of phone ownership. The causes can vary – for example, a new phone takes time to learn your habits and optimize battery life, so it’s a good idea to monitor consumption in the first week. If the problem persists, there are a number of things you can try.
First of all, check Settings > Battery and device care > Drums. This will help you see what’s draining the battery and identify if a specific app is to blame. You can also try disabling Always On Display or check what features and processes are running when the screen is off by going to Settings > Advanced features > Movements and gestures. Or try disabling features you don’t need like Edge panels and Edge lighting. Another thing worth trying is maximizing battery usage. Here’s how to do it:
The first step: Go to Settings > applications.
Second step : Press the Three vertical points at the top right of the screen, then select Special access.
Third step: Press on Optimizing battery usage, and then press the drop-down arrow and select All.
Fourth step: You can then toggle the slider for each app you want to optimize.
You can also try putting unused apps to sleep, turning on power saving mode, uninstalling or turning off bloat you aren’t using, or even turning off the cover screen when you receive notifications. happen if it’s not a feature you’ll be using.
Problem: Samsung Pay is not working
The issues with Samsung Pay not working on Samsung phones seem to have been around for some time now, and it appears to continue to be an issue with the Z Flip 3 and Z Fold 3. It seems to primarily affect users in the Kingdom. -United. and other parts of Europe, with a few mentions that the Samsung Pay app opens with a German page – obviously not ideal if you don’t speak German!
The problem is actually caused by confusion in the CSC code when setting up the phone, which led Samsung Pay to work in German, which is not good news for those residing in the UK.
Until Samsung has a permanent fix for this, there are a few things that moderators on the forums have suggested trying – although some users have reported that these fixes don’t work.
Restart your Z Flip 3. Then go to Settings to check for software updates and / or Samsung Pay updates. Once these are installed, turn off your phone’s Wi-Fi, then turn it back on. Then uninstall and reinstall Samsung Pay.
Hopefully Samsung fixes this issue via an update soon, but for now all you can really do is follow the tips above to see if that fixes the issue.
“NoSubject” line appearing at the top of each group text
This is a known issue that has affected Samsung phones on T-Mobile in the past. When sending an MMS – or a group SMS, since group SMS uses MMS – users report the line
We recommend that you report this issue to your carrier and to Samsung. Hopefully a fix will be found in the near future. In the meantime, you can try using Google Messages as your messaging app or try installing another messaging app from the Play Store like Textra which doesn’t have the subject line issue.
