Prime Day is on the horizon, which means that we will be getting some great electronics deals, including ones for Apple Watches. If you’ve wanted to pick one up, now’s the perfect time to plan for it, so let’s take a look at when Prime Day is going to be, what retailers will have deals, and how to approach buying a new Apple Watch.
This year, Prime Day seems to have gone back to the usual time frame before 2020. During a recent earnings call, Amazon officially announced that Prime Day 2022 is going to be in July, although a specific date wasn’t specified. Back when Prime Day was in July, we’d likely see it around the 15th or generally the middle of July. It’s been all over the place the past few years, taking place in June in 2021 and October in 2020.
That means that we’re likely going to see Prime Day happen around July 15 in 2022, but expect it to be a few days before or a few days after; Amazon will let us know more as we get closer to the day. Furthermore, many other retailers are probably going to want to get in on the action, so we might see a few good deals before Prime Day as well — keep your eyes open for any sales!
While it would make sense that Apple has some of the best deals on its devices, Prime Day or not, that’s rarely the case, and mostly it’s a small discount on certain items or trade-in value for older phones.
Amazon is likely the best place to find Prime Day Apple Watch deals. In fact, some of the best Apple Watch deals are on Amazon, even outside Prime Day, so we’re expecting to see some excellent deals when the day arrives. Beyond that, Prime Day tends to have some of the best electronics deals of the year, whether you’re buying an Apple Watch or smartphone. As such, we strongly suggest keeping Amazon on your radar for Apple Watch deals.
But Amazon isn’t the only retailer where you’ll find Apple Watch deals, with two big retailers — Walmart and Best Buy — being good alternatives. While they’re not generally known for their Apple deals, they both often have some great electronic sales, and they’re likely to try to get a foot in the Prime Day sales by putting up some good deals on electronics and other items. Whether that will apply to Apple and Apple Watches specifically is yet to be seen, but we would likely expect at least the last generation of Apple Watches to be on sale of some sort.
There is also something else to consider: The Apple Watch can have different straps, and if you’re a fan of that sort of customization, then your world opens up even more. For example, you have places like Meridio, Southern Straps, Nomad, Nyloon, Pad & Quill, and The Strap Smith, all of which offer different straps and are likely to have some form of Prime Day sale. Of course, those are a lot of various online retailers to look at, so it’s a good idea to check them out individually and pick a couple you like so that you can see if they offer sales during Prime Day. Amazon will also likely have sales on straps, so you won’t be hurting for options.
Also, while Apple rarely has sales, it won’t hurt to check for them. While we don’t expect any sales, there might be a good voucher or trade-in you can work with, and who knows, maybe the tides have turned and Apple will have some deals.
If you can afford to, absolutely! Prime Day is likely to be the best day of the year for Apple Watch deals. As mentioned earlier, Prime Day tends to be the best time of the year for electronics, which applies to Apple Watches. It will also apply to things like watch straps and maybe even watch faces, so if you want a change of pace, there might be a deal to be had on the app store.
It’s important to know what exactly you’re looking for and what budget you have; after all, Apple Watches can be quite expensive. For example, you might want to think about the Apple Watch Series 6 vs. the Apple Watch SE. They are both great watches, but the Watch SE is cheaper than the Watch Series 6, and even though the Series 6 is better, you might not need all its features, allowing you to get the SE at half the price. Or maybe you’d like to go for something like the Watch Series 5, which sits somewhere in the middle. Whichever it is, it’s important to have an idea of what you’re looking for and how much you want to spend to snap the deal up as soon as it comes along.
On the other hand, if you’re more interested in cosmetic items such as straps and watch faces, we have a comprehensive list of all the official Apple Watch bands, models, and faces that you can pick from. Also, if you can’t wait until then or want to spoil yourself, we also have some great Apple watch band and strap deals you can pick from.
Overall, though, be sure you’re getting something that you know you’ll enjoy, whichever model, face, and strap you go for. Regretting a purchase down the line is never great, so taking advantage of some of the best Apple Watch deals on Prime Day is important for your own peace of mind!
