Apple has quietly extended an AirPods Pro Repair Program that offers free repairs or replacements for headphones that have noise cancellation or static issues. Reddit users (via MacRumors) were the first to spot the change to Apple’s support page for the repair program, which now says the program covers affected AirPods Pro for three years after they are first sold at retail, instead of two . The page appears to have been updated in early October.
The support program was initially introduced in October 2020, a year after the original AirPods Pro release in 2019. This meant that Apple’s repair program was introduced exactly when the warranty on the launch units was due to expire. . With the extension of the repair program to three years, AirPods Pro purchased at launch are now expected to be covered until October 2022.
As a reminder, Apple says it will fix the following issues with the AirPods Pro:
Crackling or static noises that increase in noisy environments, during exercise or when talking on the phone
Active noise cancellation does not work as expected, such as loss of bass sounds or increased background noise, such as noise from the street or airplanes
If you have any of these issues, you now have an extra year to relax and get a free fix under the Repair Program, which in our experience often means Apple gives you a pair. replacement to take home. To do this, Apple says you need to contact their support team or an Apple Authorized Service Provider, or make an appointment at an Apple Store.
