Facial palm: It may take a while for GPU orders to be fulfilled, but what are you supposed to do when you’ve waited a year and it still hasn’t happened? Resort to corruption, apparently. As funny as the corruption with cake is, if something like this happens to you, please report the fraud to the store and ask your bank to waive the charge.
A man in Poland ordered an RTX 3080 in September last year. After being fooled by the store he ordered from, claiming he hadn’t sent enough GPUs from Nvidia and AIB, he sent them a first birthday cake to thank them for taking the time. ‘they had spent together.
There you go, he got his GPU a few days later.
The story and photos were shared by the bakery, E-Torty. They called it one of their funniest orders. They shared with them the original message from the client, which, roughly translated from Polish, looks like this:
I would like to request a quote for a special order.
I want to send a cake to this store: ██████
I want to send them a first birthday cake to remind them that they didn’t honor my order for an RTX 3080 from exactly one year ago. They claim they were not sent by the manufacturer.
I would like the cake to say, “One year together 600000022222.”
As for the cake itself, I would like an average traditional cheesecake.
In their Facebook post, E-Torty says they were sent the photo below with the caption “It worked!” shortly after delivering the cake.
Although E-Torty scrambled the name of the store, VideoCardz did some research and determined that it was likely Polish retailer X-kom. They have a bit of a reputation for delays and poor customer service.
VideoCardz reported in August that some of their customers who had ordered RTX 3070 and RTX 3080 10 months previously were now offered RTX 3060s (and no refunds) as replacements. X-kom also claimed that the RTX 3060 is as powerful as the more expensive models, which is not true.
