Acer announces laptops and tablets with antibacterial technology

In a word: Acer has already launched products that form its “antimicrobial” PC series that fight bacteria. It is now added to this lineup with the announcement of new laptops, displays and accessories featuring bacteria-resistant technology.

Antimicrobial solutions fight germs through two methods, silver ion technology and Corning Gorilla Glass antimicrobial. The former is applied to several areas of the device, including the surface of the chassis, keyboard, screen, touchpad, hinge, fingerprint reader, etc. Silver ions are “highly reactive particles capable of dramatically reducing the growth rate of microbes on contact.”

Acer applies silver ions (Ag +) to Corning Gorilla Glass for screens and touchpads, allowing the glass surface to stay cleaner for longer. It also makes it less vulnerable to bacteria that cause stains or odors.

“This is done via traces of silver ions leaching from the surface of the glass to remove surface bacteria while providing other benefits such as improved durability and scratch resistance,” Acer explained.

The latest PCs to use this germ-fighting technology are Acer’s TravelMate Spin P4 convertible laptop, Urban N3 Enduro laptop and Urban T3 tablet.

The first product, the TravelMate Spin P4 from Acer, is a convertible laptop designed for the professional market. It features an 11th generation Intel Core i7 vPro processor and offers a 14 inch Full HD touchscreen that can rotate 360 degrees in laptop, stand, tent or tablet mode.

With a weight of 1.53 kg (3.37 lb) and a thickness of 17.9 mm (0.7 in), this is an ideal laptop for those who value portability. It also offers up to 13.5 hours of battery life and can be quickly charged to 80% in an hour. It is slated for release in North America in January 2022, starting at $ 1,099.99. A European launch is planned for the fourth quarter of 2021, for € 1,119.

Acer’s selling point for the Enduro Urban N3, meanwhile, is its durability. The 14-inch laptop offers industrial-grade resistance to dust and water. Specifically, four reinforced corners will allow the device to survive drops up to 4ft / 122cm, connected by a waterproof design covering its I / O ports, speakers and buttons.

The laptop is equipped with an 11th generation Intel Core i7 processor, an Nvidia GeForce MX330 GPU and 32 GB of DDR4 memory. It will be available in North America in the fourth quarter of 2021, starting at $ 849.99, in addition to a European launch in the same quarter for € 799.

Finally, the Acer Enduro Urban T3 is a 10-inch tablet with a Full HD screen. A front-facing 5MP wide-angle camera comes with an octa-core MediaTek processor and 4GB of RAM. The device will release in Q1 2022 in North America and Europe, starting at $ 299.99 and € 299, respectively.

Also equipped with its antimicrobial technology, the VE246Q monitor with a 23.6-inch FHD screen and several accessories: a 1000 DPI Bluetooth mouse and a Bluetooth keyboard / mouse combo set (KM501) for Chromebook.
